The city of Bilbao was founded more than 700 years ago. Much of the city's earliest developments happened in Casco Viejo, also known as the Old Quarter, which was mainly used for port activities and commerce. Back then, the area was only made up of three streets surrounded by walls, but today, it looks much different. Getting around Old Town
Since the Old Town is a pedestrian area, the only way to get around is by foot.
