Maslenitsa 2024

Maslenitsa Week is celebrated a week before the Great Lent commences and lasts for seven days. This year, it takes place from March 11 to 17. This auspicious occasion of indulgence, better known as Butter Week, is a folk holiday observed in Slavic countries of Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. The holiday honors the arrival of Spring after the long stretch of winter. Being the oldest Slavic holiday, Maslenitsa Week continues to bring observers together for a feast of pancakes, butter-filled sweets, and religious merriment. The holiday was not observed officially for the lifespan of the Soviet Union.

Moomba Festival 2024

Moomba (also known as the Moomba Festival) is held annually in Melbourne, Australia. Run by the City of Melbourne, it is Australia's largest free community festival.The Melburnian tradition is celebrated over four days, incorporating the Labour Day long weekend, from Friday to the second Monday in March. Moomba is culturally important to Melbourne, having been celebrated since 1955, and regularly attracts up to a million people, with a record attendance of 3.8 million (2.3 million tourists) set in 2018.

New Orleans Mardi Gras 2024

The holiday of Mardi Gras is celebrated in New Orleans, Louisiana, although celebrations are concentrated for about two weeks before and through Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. Usually, there is one major parade each day (weather permitting); many days have several large parades. The largest and most elaborate parades take place the last five days of the Mardi Gras season. In the final week, many events occur throughout New Orleans and surrounding communities, including parades and balls (some of them masquerade balls).
