If you want the ultimate all-access pass to fun in Austin, then you've got to get a ticket to an event taking place at Moody Center. Known for hosting the biggest names in the music industry, and other types of performances, this is a great way to get a taste of the city. It's located on the University of Texas Austin campus, which is always alive with activity. It seats more than 15,000 people so you can bet it gets pretty crazy at times.

The Moody Center opened in 2022, so it's very new and very modern. The bag policy at this arena is very clear, guests are encouraged to leave all belongings at home. That's easier said than done if you arrive in Austin and haven't yet checked into your hotel. Not to worry, we've got you covered there, but let's first discuss the bag policy.

Fans can bring one clear bag that doesn't exceed 14″ x 14″ x 6″. Guests may choose to instead bring a non-clear small bag that doesn't exceed 5″ x 9″ x 1.5″. These types of "bags" can be a small clutch, a wallet, or a small purse. You can also bring clear re-sealable bags that don’t exceed one gallon.

The Moody Center does not make exceptions for diaper bags as some stadiums do. If you’re traveling with one, the bag’s contents will need to be emptied into a suitable clear plastic bag. While most arenas and stadiums allow diaper bags, this one does not. Instead, patrons will need to follow the clear bag policy and put all contents into one that fits the size restrictions. All items will go through a security check.

The stadium does offer some on-site storage lockers but they tend to fill up fast so it's not wise to count on this option.

Transportation Options

Driving tends to be the first mode of transportation that people think of, but Autisn is a busy city so this isn't always the best idea. Getting to your seats on time can be dicey if you're trying to navigate traffic. There is parking at E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd and S I-35 Frontage Road. You can also book a spot in advance.

Using Austin’s Capital Metro, means you've got lots of routes to choose from. This is perfect for big concerts that are likely to draw a crowd.

Camera Policy

You can also bring your camera to concerts and events, as long as it's for personal use. Professional cameras aren't allowed, including detachable lenses. Recording equipment isn't allowed. Some events do prohibit cameras and smartphones. It's wise to contact the stadium in advance to ask for assistance on what's permitted.

Cashless Venue

Just like so many other stadiums in the country, Moody Center is cashless. You'll need to use a credit or debit card. Some vendors will accept Google Pay and Apple Pay.
