And it's more than just the unique shape of this outdoor theatre, it's the fact that the mountains in the distance help to boost the acoustics, enhancing live music events.

Hollywood Bowl bag policy

The Bag Policy Details at the Hollywood Bowl

People are usually familiar with bag policies at stadiums, arenas, and ballparks, but amphitheaters can be a bit different in terms of what's prohibited and what's permitted. Guests are allowed to bring one bag each, and they don't have to be clear - which makes things easy. The only restriction is size, they cannot be larger than 15 inches wide, 15 inches high, or 22 inches long.

The other rule is that bags, containers, baskets and coolers measuring the correct size have to fit under your seat. If you're in a rented box, the house rules still apply which means your containers, picnic baskets, and more need to fit in your box.

Depending on the event, some will restrict glass so you'll need to use plastic items instead. Aluminum cans are never permitted.

Additional rules during performances

Additional Policies to Be Aware Of

The bag policy is easy enough to understand, but that's not the only rule. There are special house rules that you probably aren't necessarily used to seeing at large venue spaces. Here are a few that could apply to your experience.

Transportation Options

We don't recommend driving to the venue, as LA is notorious for its horrible traffic. You don't want to still be stuck in traffic when the performance starts. Park and ride is a better option and there is a Bowl Shuttle that goes to different Park & Ride locations.

You can also use Metrolink to be dropped off at the amphitheater. This public transit option can also bring you back to the airport when you are done with your trip, which can be convenient.

Food, Snacks, and Drink Policy

Good news, at this venue you can bring your own food and drinks! Certain events may have more specific rules, so it's always smart to look at the instructions on your ticket.

As stated on the venue's website, you can bring in containers, picnic baskets, and coolers that have food, snacks, and drinks in them. They cannot be bigger than 15 inches wide, 15 inches high, or 22 inches long. And as we said above, your items need to fit under your seat so they aren't in the way of others. Loose food and drinks aren't allowed, they need to be contained in something.

Here's another surprise, any LA Phil-presented events allow guests to bring outside wine and beer. If it's a Lease Event, then you can't bring outside wine and beer - or any alcohol. Remember, there are still no aluminum cans or glass allowed. This means you can't bring wine bottles, beer bottles, or wine glasses made from glass.

If you don't want to bring your own food and drinks, there are food truck vendors on-site that you can buy snacks, meals, and drinks from. All ticket-holders can also pre-order a picnic box for pickup at the Plaza Marketplace.

The Hollywood Bowl is cashless, so you will need to be prepared to pay with other payment methods.

Camera policy

Good news budding photographers, you can bring your cameras into the theater. Extendable lenses, selfie sticks, and monopods won't be allowed though. You can also use your smartphone to take video clips.
